With the Opening Ceremony just a few weeks away, nations have been unveiling their Olympic rosters at a blistering pace over the past week.

Germany is no different, with the nation getting in on the fun by announcing the 25-man squad that will head to Beijing next month in search of an elusive gold medal.

While the NHL may have opted against sending its players to Beijing back in December, Germany still carries a decent NHL contingent on its current roster.

Leading the way upfront is forward Tobias Rieder, who logged 478 career games over seven NHL seasons for the Arizona Coyotes, Los Angeles Kings, Edmonton Oilers, Calgary Flames, and Buffalo Sabres before heading overseas to Vaxjo of the SHL.

But Rieder isn't the only greybeard representing Germany in Beijing. Joining him are fellow NHL alumni in Tom Kuhnhackle, veteran of 232 career games for the Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Islanders, Dominik Kahun, who most recently played for Edmonton during the 2021 campaign before heading Bern HC of the Swiss league, and defender Korbinian Holzer, who appeared in just over 200 games over a decade-long tenure split between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Anaheim Ducks.

With the playing field as even as it ever has been this year, capturing a gold medal is possible for all who participate.
