The Edmonton Oilers have assigned forward Noah Philp to the Bakersfield Condors, it was announced Wednesday.
A product of Canmore, Alta., Philp has split time between the Oilers and the Condors this season, collecting an assist in three NHL games and three points in six AHL games.
After taking a step away from the game last season, Philp has been a feel-good story, making his NHL debut on Oct. 31 and not looking out of place.
Since turning pro during the 2021-22 season, Philp has appeared in 81 career AHL regular season games, scoring 21 goals and adding 19 assists for 40 points. Prior to making the jump, Philp played parts of two seasons with the University of Alberta (USports), collecting 38 points in 36 regular season games.
Although his assignment to the AHL may have come as a surprise, Philp will have the opportunity to play big minutes for the Condors and has cemented himself as a call-up option for the Oilers.
