The Admirals sit behind the Norfolk Admirals for second all-time for the longest winning streaks in AHL history.
The Milwaukee Admirals downed the Wolves 4-0 during an early tilt on Thursday, making history in the process. The Ads now have sole possession of 2nd place in AHL history for longest winning streaks, trailing only the 2011-12 Norfolk Admirals who won a professional hockey record 28 consecutive contests.
Yaroslav Askarov made 27 saves for his 21st win of the season. Since January 1st Askarov has put together a perfect 13-0 record with a 1.60 GAA, .940 SP and five shutouts. Zach L'Heureux scored twice in the historic win.
Askarov has now won 14 straight games, a franchise record, with his partner Troy Grosenick, owning a 13-game winning streak. The duo now holds the two longest winning streaks for a goalie in franchise history and they are happening concurrently.
Cody Hodgson scored his first goal since Feb. 24, 2016, while Captain Kevin Gravel played in his 500th professional game today at Chicago. Head coach Karl Taylor won his 400th game as a professional head coach.
The Admirals rematch the Wolves on Saturday.
