The New York Islanders have loaned goaltender Jakub Skarek to the Bridgeport Islanders, it was announced Sunday.
Skarek, a product of Jihlava, Czechia, has seen time at both the AHL and NHL levels this season. In two appearances with New York, Skarek has posted a record of 0-1-0 to go along with a 3.94 GAA and a .872 SP. In his time with Bridgeport, he has a record of 5-11-1, a GAA of 3.22 and a .895 SP.
Drafted by the Islanders in the third round of the 2018 NHL Draft, Skarek came to North America before the 2019-20 season. Since then, he has spent the majority of his time in the AHL where he has put together a record of 49-82-17 to go along with a 3.30 GAA and a .892 SP across 159 regular season appearances.
With Skarek being returned to Bridgeport, he will once again see regular time in the crease. Over his time in North America, Skarek has flashed his potential and could be an option for the backup position with New York as soon as next season.
