Andersson spent the entire season playing with the Laval Rocket

Laval Rocket forward Lias Andersson has signed a two-year deal with Biel-Bienne in Switzerland, it was announced Wednesday.

A 2017 seventh overall pick of the New York Rangers, Andersson could never find his footing in the NHL and departs overseas.

Having last suited up for an NHL game in 2022-23, Andersson spent the entire season with the Rocket where he scored 21 goals and added 24 assists for 45 points in 53 regular season games.

Since being drafted by the Rangers, Andersson spent parts of six seasons playing in the NHL with the Rangers and Los Angeles Kings. In 110 games played, Andersson scored seven goals and added 10 assists for 17 points.

As Andersson makes the trek to Switzerland, it closes the book on what was once a very bright NHL future. While Andersson can still produce at the AHL level, it might prove difficult to try and get him to come back to North America once his contract is up.
