The Lehigh Valley Phantoms have signed forward Nick Capone to a one-year deal, it was reported this past week.
A 2020 sixth round pick by the Tampa Bay Lightning, Capone joins the Phantoms after going unsigned by the Lightning.
In 32 games this past year with the University of Connecticut, Capone scored four goals and added four assists for eight points. Over his 118 games in the NCAA (all with the Huskies), Capone scored 18 goals and added 24 assists for 42 points.
As Capone makes the jump to the pro game, he should be able to adapt well. He does a good job at getting in hard on the forecheck and makes it difficult for the opposition to move the puck. Capone was invited to rookie camp with the Philadelphia Flyers and has the chance to make a name for himself there as well.
