The American Hockey League has suspended Manitoba Moose forward Tyson Empey for two games, it was announced Tuesday.
The incident took place during the second period of the Moose's game against the Rockford IceHogs Sunday. Empey made an illegal check to the head of IceHogs forward Brett Seney, resulting in a five minute major for charging and a game misconduct.
A product of Swift Current, Sask., Empey is in his first season with the Moose after spending last year splitting time between the Hershey Bears and the ECHL's South Carolina Stingrays. In two games this season, he has scored a goal and collected 15 penalty minutes.
While he was held pointless in his five games with Hershey in 2023-24, Empey scored 19 goals and added 23 assists for 42 points in 64 games with the Stingrays.
Prior to turning pro in 2020, Empey played four seasons at SUNY-Geneseo (NCAA D-III).
Empey will miss Manitoba's games this Friday and Saturday when they take on the Milwaukee Admirals.
