The two forwards both re-signed one-year contracts with the Devils

The New Jersey Devils have re-signed forward Max Willman and Nathan Legare to identical one-year, two-way contracts, the team announced Tuesday.

Willman's contract will see him make $775,000 at the NHL level and $275,000 at the AHL level with $300,000 guaranteed. Legare's contract will see him make $775,000 at the NHL level and $85,000 at the AHL level.

Willman, a 2014 fifth-round pick (121st overall) by the Buffalo Sabres, split the season between the Devils and the Comets. In 18 games played for the Devils, Willman notched three goals and added an assist for four points. With the Comets, he scored 12 goals and added 10 assists for 22 points in 33 games.

His first season with the Devils organization, Willman spent parts of four seasons with the Philadelphia Flyers' organization before joining the Devils on a PTO in September - earning a contract before the season started.

Before turning pro, Willman played five seasons in the NCAA - four years at Brown University and one for Boston University.

Legare, acquired by the Devils on March 11 in a trade with the Montreal Canadiens, played in 15 games with the Comets where he had two goals and an assist for three points. Prior to the trade, Legare had nine points in 39 games for the Laval Rocket.

A 2019 third-round pick (74th overall) of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Legare spent two years playing in the Penguins' system before being traded to the Habs in the three-way deal that saw Erik Karlsson go to the Penguins.

Legare and Willman will most likely get a look during Devils' training camp and will be important contributors for the Comets next season.
