Snarl defines the Boston Bruins, and they just lost a key defender who provides plenty of it.

Dennis Seidenberg will miss 6-8 months after tearing his ACL and MCL in a collision with Cory Conacher Friday night.

The play occurred at the 15-minute mark of the third period when Conacher tried to beat Seidenberg wide on a rush to the left of Tuukka Rask. The two became tangled and Conacher fell backward onto Seidenberg's right leg. Seidenberg yelled out in pain and eventually glided off without assistance.

Seidenberg, 32, averages 22 minutes a night playing on the second pairing and logs two-and-a-half minutes per game on the penalty kill. He's frequently paired with Zdeno Chara during the playoffs and is used by coach Claude Julien as a reliable shutdown presence. He signed a four-year, $16-million contract extension in October.

Here's the official release from the Boston Bruins.
