The Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Anaheim Ducks 5-2 Sunday night at Honda Center to cap off their road trip with six out of a possible eight points.

Taylor Hall led the way for the Canes with a hat trick and the game-winning goal and Frederik Andersen stopped 35 shots in the win.

After the game, Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour, along with Hall and Andersen spoke with the media in Anaheim. Here's what they had to say:

    Rod Brind'Amour

On the game: The goaltending was pretty darn special tonight again, so that was good. Especially with six power plays our penalty kill had to kill. That's too many. But your best penalty killer has to be the goalie and I thought he did a great job. We actually had a ton of shorthanded chances too, just unfortunately weren't able to score there. But it was just a good team effort. 20 guys who I thought played extremely hard and got the win.

On Taylor Hall: He was really dynamite. Just felt like every shift he was impactful, all around it. He's been really good since he showed up here, but hadn't quite gotten rewarded for what he's been doing and tonight he did. The one down low, where he stick handled around the netminder, that was a special goal. He had a great game.

On the power play: We've been okay, just been a little snakebit, but I thought the puck movement was better there. They were snapping it around and it was really a great play by [Jackson Blake] taking it to the net. Great hands down low and then we're crashing the net and Hallsy put it in. Big goal at that time.

On Mark Jankowski's production: I don't want to say it's a bonus, but those are something that we obviously didn't really expect. He's in a limited role, I still have to get him out there a little more because he's earned it and is contributing and that's the key.

    Taylor Hall

On the keys to the game: I think Freddie and our PK. Our PK is so good at not only limiting chances, but creating momentum for our team. We really get a lot of juice out of our penalty kill and Freddie is a big part of that. That allows us to get into the game, play aggressive and if we take penalties, we know that we have probably the best kill in the league and that it's going to take care of us

On his hat trick: Just all in the third period there. We had a good power play there at the start of the period, fresh ice. We were able to snap it around and we've been working on getting more guys at the net with our PP. So just crashed the net, put it up pretty high, a little close. Then it was 3-2 and [Jack Roslovic] makes a really good play to the middle of the ice in the o-zone and [Jesperi Kotkaniemi[ finds me. Maybe a little high-risk for the time of the game, but those guys can make plays and I think we're really starting to read off of each other. It's fun. Just fun to contribute and if you can score, do anything, we're all buying into what we're doing here.

On his comfort level: I think it's really starting to get there. You can say that you're feeling good after 5-10 games, but it's just a lot of reps and it's a lot of reading off of players and knowing. I think all three of our D pairs play different styles too. So just being able to read off of KK, Rosy, who I've been with for the last few games, it's just part of being a hockey player, being an athlete, just letting your brain do the work and you just go play. That's what I'm kind of feeling now. It's really fun to just contribute.

    Frederik Andersen

    On the game:
Just turning the page quickly, mentally, was the biggest thing. Obviously you're gonna have some games like yesterday where things just go against you. You're gonna have that, but you have to respond. Thought we all came ready to play and like I said, turned the page quick. Feels good.

On his game: I was just trying to prepare like I always do. A place I'm familiar with, had some people in the stands that have helped me come a long way. Feels good to put on a good game in front of them and get the win.

On his play in the third period: It's always a good time for a save, right? So just stayed in the moment, tried to see what was in front of me and stop it.

On the road trip: It's all the little things we do on a daily basis is what makes us successful when we play well. We have to keep that going and continue to buy in. We have a group that cares about each other.

On Taylor Hall: He's an incredibly smart player and obviously very skilled as well to put those shots away and make those plays. He's a veteran and obviously has done a really good job of stepping in on a new team this season. Something that I can imagine is pretty hard.

On his recent stretch of play: I just try to prepare like every other game. Sometimes bounces are going to go your way and you do your best.

On the penalty kill: I think that's one of our identities. The guys out there really battle hard for us and for the team. It's obviously nice to know that it's going to be really hard for them to get an opportunity and obviously the goalies, we have to help out too when they do get one. It's cool to see the way they work and how hard they work to minimize those entries and limiting chances.
