The Carolina Hurricanes were shut out by the Montreal Canadiens in a 4-0 loss Tuesday night at Bell Centre.

The Canes were just unable to get anything going offensively and that along with a struggling power play have seen them lose five of their last six games.

After the game, Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour spoke to the media in Montreal. Here's what he had to say:

    On the game:
It's been a bit of the same story. It's not like we're giving up a ton, but when we do, it just seems to find a way. A couple weird bounces there at the start and then you're behind the 8-ball. You have to give them credit because they didn't give us much and did a nice job of defending when they got the lead. Special teams has to be better. I did like the penalty kill tonight. They did a pretty good job. The last one was a floater in, again, kind of a tough break. But on the 5-on-3 they did a hell of job, but then I didn't love that [next] goal. Not a grade-A opportunity. Listen, we have to find ways to score goals.

On the road struggles: It was under 20 shots again tonight so that's pretty good defense, right? And it was 11 until the last seven minutes of the game or something. To me, right now, if you look at the identity of our team, it's definitely changed in the last couple of weeks. We've changed the way we've played. No knock on the guys we brought in, they're great players, but we have to remember how we play the game and I think we've changed that a little bit and it's clearly not working.

On struggling to sustain offensive pressure: Well I think Montreal did a nice job. They kept us to the outside for the most part and we weren't able to get too many shots through. Both teams did pretty much the same thing. They just got a couple that went through and a couple of bounces. Ours didn't happen to go. That's kind of the game in a nutshell. Again, we still had too many turnovers in areas where we're trying to make stuff happen when there's just nothing there. That's kind of what has crept into our game the last couple of weeks.
