You’d be hard pressed to find a particular area of forward Jason Robertson’s game that needs improvement after the outstanding season he just had, but the 24-year-old made a few tweaks this summer that he hopes will yield even better results.
So, what was his primary focus?
“Finding more ways to move my feet and be quicker out there,” explained Robertson, who registered 109 points in 2022-23, the second-highest single season total in franchise history. “I think I’m in better shape than I was coming in last year, so I just need to keep maintaining that and try to create more opportunities using my feet.”
If the former second-rounder is “in better shape” now, the League should officially be on notice that there are even bigger things to come from the youngster in the near future.
Robertson finished sixth in NHL scoring with 46 goals and 63 assists in 82 games, before adding another seven goals and 11 assists in 19 playoff appearances.
He was then named a First-Team All-Star at left wing.
“I took some time in the summer to acknowledge it and realize there are some expectations on me now,” admitted Robertson. “But, all I can do now is keep working hard, keep trying to do my best, and whatever happens, happens.”
That’s a good attitude to have when you’re clearly under the spotlight.
Robertson is confident, however, that he’s in a good place to string together another notable campaign.
“There are going to be plenty of opportunities for me to succeed. We’re such a good team, such a deep team, so the coaching staff and everyone’s going to put me in a position to succeed,” insisted Robertson. “I’ve just got to be confident and ready to go.”

As for his “superstar” status, the OHL grad has definitely earned it.
His production speaks for itself.
“It’s something to try to embrace. It’s definitely humbling to be one of the guys that everyone looks at when they think of the Dallas Stars,” said Robertson. “Hopefully, as we go along, we’ll keep growing, the team keeps growing, and everyone’s benefiting from it, and it helps when you have one of the top teams and a lot of eyes on us this year.”
