Iowa Heartlanders forward Louis Boudon has signed with the Nybro Vikings team of the HockeyAllsvenskan, according to multiple reports. The 25-year-old led Iowa in goals (18) and points (46) in 54 games played during the 2023-24 season.
“The signing was done quickly," Boudon said in a loose translation from a Swedish press release. "I wanted to wait until the end of the World Cup to make a decision. Discussions with the team started a few days ago, and I signed immediately. I really liked their project and I'm very happy to be part of it. I spent 8 years in the USA, I learned a lot! But after a season that didn't go the way I hoped, I needed something else.
"I've heard a lot of positive things about Sweden and the quality of the leagues. I can't wait to experience the style of play and start this new season. I have a lot of individual and collective ambitions. I want to have an impact on the team's results and I want to learn and improve day by day in order to continue my development. The team has a lot of ambitions and I want to help them achieve their goals."
Prior to the Heartlanders, Boudon was a standout at Lake Superior State University, captaining the team in his junior and senior seasons. The Grenoble, France, native accumulated 39 goals and 114 points in four collegiate years and signed an Amateur Tryout (ATO) with the AHL's Iowa Wild at the end of the 2022-23 season.
After signing, Boudon reported to the ECHL, where he recorded a goal, two assists, and a +7 plus/minus rating in three games. This past season, in addition to his time with the Iowa Heartlanders, he also played ten games in the AHL, where he recorded one goal.
