Two goaltenders earned impressive shutout victories, while several other players helped their teams with multi-point nights. Here are five top performances from Friday night action in the ECHL.

Ty Young: Kalamazoo Wings

Good luck getting any shots past Ty Young lately.

The Kalamazoo Wings rookie earned his second consecutive shutout in a 4-0 victory over the Bloomington Bison in front of 5,214 at Wings Event Center.

Young stopped all 37 shots fired at him, even anchoring the K-Wings’ penalty-kill unit to a perfect 4-for-4 night. Young currently has a scoreless streak of 141:01, dating back to Feb. 2 in Iowa against the Heartlanders.

Davis Codd scored what would prove to be the game-winner at the 2:28 mark of the second period off a Bison turnover, charging down the left side and slipping the puck through the five-hole.

Lee Lapid added two goals of his own and Zach Berzolla tallied a long-range empty-netter to seal the victory. Young is now 8-6-0-1 on the season.

Matt Radomsky: Rapid City Rush

If it seems Matt Radomsky is dominating space on The Hockey News ECHL site lately… well, he is.

The reigning ECHL Goaltender of the Week picked up a pair of wins last week against the Idaho Steelheads, coming within 20 seconds of getting a shutout in one of them.

The perfect night didn't elude him this time. Radomsky turned in another dominant performance Friday against the Maine Mariners. The Rush netminder earned his second career shutout in a 4-0 victory at The Monument.

Radomsky must enjoy facing the Mariners; both shutouts have come against that club. He blanked them on Feb. 2, 2024 at the Cross Insurance Arena.

On Friday, Radomsky saved all 28 shots he faced. Maine outshot the Rush 28-18, but Rapid City scored more than enough for the win.

The Mariners have now dropped seven straight road contests, and it was the first time they have been shut out since Oct. 27 at home against the Worcester Railers.

The win is Rapid City’s fifth straight, its longest of the season. Radomsky’s shutout is the club’s first at home since Lukas Parik earned one on Dec. 27, 2021 against the Utah Grizzlies.

David Cotton: Kansas City Mavericks

Cotton showed his love for Mavericks fans on Valentine’s Night by scoring two goals in a 3-1 victory over the Tulsa Oilers at Cable Dahmer Arena.

Kansas City overcame a slow start after the Oilers grabbed a 1-0 lead at 2:18 of the opening period. Cotton found the back of the net late in the frame, tying the score 1-1.

After a scoreless second period, Cotton delivered the eventual game-winner at 3:54 of the third, with helpers from Marcus Crawford and Jackson Berezowski. Damien Giroux added an insurance goal less than four minutes later for the 3-1 final.

Anthony Callin: Worcester Railers

The Railers kicked off a seven-game road swing in fine fashion, earning a 5-3 win over the struggling Allen Americans. Anthony Callin notched a pair of goals to continue his hot play, coming into the evening fifth in the ECHL with 152 shots on goal.

Worcester jumped on top early with three first-period goals in a span of 2-1/2 minutes. Callin got the party started with an unassisted goal 8:59 into the opening period.

After Allen trimmed the lead to 3-2, Callin netted his second goal of the night 48 seconds into the third period, earning his 15th of the season.

The Americans trimmed the lead back to one at 4-3, but a Griffin Loughran empty-netter sealed the 5-3 final.

T.J. Walsh: Iowa Heartlanders

Iowa (26-16-7) picked up a big 4-2 victory at home over the Toledo Walleye (31-11-6), and Walsh was the deciding factor. He scored two goals, including an empty-netter to put the game out of reach.

With the score tied 1-1, Walsh netted a snap-shot from the faceoff three minutes into the second period to give the Heartlanders a 2-1 lead.

Following a power-play goal from Ryan Miotto with five minutes left in the third period to put Iowa on top 3-2, Walsh sealed the deal with his empty-net tally.
