Goalies
Adin Hill, VGK at CGY (98% rostered) – FanDuel $7,500
Hill’s had a tough start to the season having allowed five goals in a season-opening loss and suffering a second consecutive loss because the Knights couldn’t provide much goal support. This is another favorable matchup for him, however, with a low-ceiling Flames offense that’s so far 27th in shots per game with six goals through three games. Hill played against the Flames just once last season, stopping all 16 shots he faced in a shutout win.
Lukas Dostal, ANA vs. PIT (69% rostered) – FanDuel $7,600
I like the value proposition for Dostal with the Ducks favored to win based on BetMGM money line odds, and also because he’s the superior goalie to whomever the Pens elect to start. Dostal was tagged with a loss in the season opener but he’s generally good for a lot of saves and a good save percentage as well. Dostal allowed just two goals on 45 shots (.956 SP) in his lone appearance against the Pens last season in a 3-2 overtime loss.
Cayden Primeau, TOR vs. NSH (2% rostered) – FanDuel $7,700
I’m not a fan of either goalie in this matchup but base this recommendation solely on the fact that the Leafs are the better team in spite of their 1-2-0 record. This is an interesting matchup in that Primeau and Justus Annunen are facing the Preds and Leafs, respectively, for the first in their careers.
I’m not a fan of either goalie’s ability, but if you’re only concerned with the outcome of the game, the Leafs have won six of their past nine meetings since 2020 with only two regulation losses. I thought the Preds got a little lucky in a 4-1 win against the Sens on Monday, which included two empty netters, while the Leafs deserved a better fate losing 3-2 to the Red Wings despite outshooting them 40-15.
