    Polgz and CadCooks set to face off in the finals

    EA SPORTS NHL/National Hockey League - EA NHL 24 All-Star Open finals set

    The EA SPORTS NHL All-Star Open is underway from the The Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto, Ontario. 

    The tournament structure is two best-of-three semi-finals matches, and then the two winners face-off in a best-of-three final to be crowned All-Star Open champion. The players are competing with their Hockey Ultimate Team squads.

    The first matchup of the day was Ethan "Polgz" Kerr-Polgar versus Dany-Karl "Deeks" Levesque, with Polgz representing the Toronto Maple Leafs and Deeks representing the Montreal Canadiens. 

    After a back and forth game one with one multiple lead changes Polgz secured the win 6-4. He followed it up with a 4-2 win, capitalizing off of some bad turnovers from Deeks to secure a spot in the finals.

    The second series was Matthew "Geimer" Geim and Samuel "CadCooks" Landry, representing the Calgary Flames and Washington Capitals, respectively.

    Cad came out flying, scoring three goals on three shots in the first three minutes of gameplay and cruised to a 12-2 victory in game one. 

    Game two was less high-flying and Geimer was able to rebound, taking the game 4-2. Game three was back and forth but Cad was able to prevail 6-4 advancing to the finals against Polgz. 

    Polgz and Cad teammates on Caps Gaming, a professional 6s team, adding an extra dynamic to the finals. 

    Cad is the defending NHL North American Champion.
