    Fantasy HUT Event Preview

The Fantasy event in Hockey Ultimate Team is always an event that players are thrilled to see finally drop. Not only does this event combine the real world NHL with HUT, but it's a great time to buy some cards that could potentially turn into amazing end game cards. For those unfamiliar, each fantasy card goes up +1 overall for every goal the corresponding player scores in the real world NHL. Defensemen go up +2, while goalies get +1 for every win. Last year this event gave players a Tim Stützle Master Set Card that ended up being absolutely insane.

With NHL 24's Fantasy HUT likely around the corner, let's take a look into some interesting players that could get Fantasy cards. We'll also be taking a look at cards without X-Factor HUT player cards, just to spice things up a little bit.

    Auston Matthews

Since X-Factor player cards have been limited to only one per team, Auston Matthews has seen himself miss out on a card that’s guaranteed to go up in overalls. With his dynamic start to the NHL season ( 6 Goals, no assists), his card would be an exciting one, and would give gamers a guaranteed high overall Matthews card. The only questions with Matthews would be how low of an overall would EA start him at, and how long would it take for him to hit 99.

    Cole Caufield

Coming off an injured 2022-2023 season, habs fans are hoping for a healthy season from Cole Caufield. And if they get that from Cole, they can expect A LOT of goals. If he gets a HUT Fantasy card, don’t be surprised to be one of the most popular cards to be a part of this event. If he were to score 40+ goals, he could easily be a 99 by the end of the season.

    Brent Burns

Now for a fun one. With defensemen getting +2 overall per goal scored, there will be a few where only 5 goals could turn them into a 95+ card. That’s not the case for Brent Burns however. It would be easily expected to see him as one of the lower, if not the lowest overall defensemen out of the group. Why? Just look at his 18 goals scored last year. This would easily be one of the “more fun” cards to get should he get a fantasy cards

    Adam Fantilli & Logan Cooley

The Fantasy event is a perfect opportunity to snag some rookie cards. Since their base cards are typically lower overall, the fantasy cards give gamers the option to get a rookie card that can eventually lead to a high overall. Logan Cooley and Adam Fantilli would be two exciting cards that would be extremely popular on the market. And for anyone wondering, the reason Connor Bedard isn’t on here is the fact that he has a guaranteed 99 overall card from the XP Sets (eventually)

    Elias Petterson

Last but certainly not least, we have the Canucks star forward that had a breakout season last year. With 39 goals last year, he would be a candidate for one of the cards that starts at a lower overall, but if he continues or exceeds his goal total from last year, it might lead to a super fun card to use once he reaches a usable overall.
