London Knights defender and Philadelphia Flyers prospect Oliver Bonk becomes the first HUT card in NHL 24 to reach 99 overall.

Fantasy hockey cards in NHL 24 Hockey Ultimate Team are a fun way to tie in how the player is performing in real life. Only 43 players were given a fantasy hockey card this year and Oliver Bonk is the winner of the race to 99 overall.

The Philadelphia Flyers first-round draft choice in the 2023 NHL Draft upgraded his fantasy hockey card after a two-goal performance on Sunday for the London Knights in their 10-0 blowout win over the Owen Sound Attack. Bonk started as a 75 overall card. For each goal he would score in the regular season, his fantasy card would go up +2. Bonk has been lighting the lamp recently and is now up to 12 goals on the season. 

Last year he finished the year with 10 goals in 67 regular season games. As a junior player who got to experience his first NHL training camp and playing for one of the best teams in the entire CHL, Bonk's production was bound to go up. However, he started the year slow as he didn't find the back of the net until his 16th game of the year. Bonk had 6 goals before leaving to represent Team Canada at the 2024 World Juniors but has been on fire since coming back to London with 6 goals in 5 games.

If you are someone who was able to get his card early on in the year, I bet you are jumping for joy as his card is not one you're going to see available on the auction house. 

Unfortunately, I don't have his card so I cannot test it out to see how he plays. I can only assume playing with a 99 overall Oliver Bonk is quite overpowered though in the game. At 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds and over 90-rated balance and strength, he should be able to protect pucks with ease when taking a bit of contact. Add on to that his 99 agility and silver elite edges, you should be able to skate circles in the offensive zone and escape away from your opponent off the boards easily.

Defensively I bet he's even better. Bonk's card has all the top-end defensive abilities. He's got gold Stick 'Em Up and silver Quick Pick and Shutdown. It gets even better too. His defensive awareness is 99 meaning combined with Quick Pick, he should be intercepting cross-crease passes almost every time. As someone who plays as a defenceman in EASHL regularly, I can only wish to have a build like this.
