Who lands the Kraken center
Seattle Kraken forward Alexander Wennberg was held out of the team's game against Calgary on Monday night for trade related reasons.
In the final year of a deal that pays him four and a half million dollars a year, the 29-year-old has 25 points in 60 games this season.
Given the likelihood that he will be traded in the next few days, we decided to try and predict where the Kraken centerman could end up by using NHL 24's Franchise Mode.
In this simulation Wennberg had 11 goals and 31 assists in 60 games and sat at 83 overall.
We attempted to trade Wennberg at his full cap hit with an open trade block, and received a whopping 19 offers in return.
Wennberg's simulation outperformed his real life stats, which contributed to some pretty substantial offers from other teams.
Detroit offered a package that included 2023 ninth overall pick Nate Danielson, while Winnipeg offered 2021 18th overall pick Chaz Lucius, something neither team would do in real life.
The common denominator seemed to be a second or third round pick and a solid prospect, which is probably too rich for what Wennberg will fetch in real life, but should give a good baseline of what Seattle will be looking for.
Chris Johnston reported that the Colorado Avalanche and New York Rangers are among the teams that have expressed interest, but neither made a trade offer in this simulation.
