American defenseman David Farrance, who played two games with the Nashville Predators in the 2020-21 season, has signed a one-year contract to play in Finland with KooKoo, the Kouvola-based Liiga club announced on Tuesday.
“Farrance brings more speed and creativity to our lineup. He was a top college hockey player and also has almost 100 games of AHL experience, ” KooKoo sports director Jarno Kultanen said of the 25-year-old. “As a defenseman, David is just approaching his best playing years. He has all the conditions to make a good mark in the Liiga as well.”
Farrance was Nashville’s third-round draft pick in 2017. He then spent the next four seasons at Boston University, where he was a two-time Hockey East All-American. In addition to the Predators, he also spent time in the Colorado Avalanche and Toronto Maple Leafs systems. After being released from Toronto, he signed with German club ERC Ingolstadt in January 2024, where he had one assist in nine DEL regular-season games and two assists in seven playoff games.
Internationally, Farrance won a gold medal for the USA at the 2017 IIHF U18 World Championship, where he recorded three points in seven games.
