This former Devils first-round pick is having success in the KHL.
Former New Jersey Devils defenseman Ty Smith is currently playing for HC Dinamo Minsk of the KHL.
This is Smith's second season with the KHL club. So far, it is fair to say that the former Devils blueliner is making an impact early on with Dinamo Minsk this season.
In 14 games so far this campaign with Dinamo Minsk, he has posted one goal to go along with 12 points. This is after he had five goals and 46 points in 68 games with the KHL club during the 2025-26.
With numbers like these, Smith has certainly had some success as an offensive defenseman in the KHL. He will be looking to keep this kind of play up as the KHL club's season rolls on from here.
Smith was selected by the Devils in the first round of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, 17th overall. In 131 career NHL games over four seasons split between the Devils, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Carolina Hurricanes, he posted nine goals, 40 assists, 49 points, and a minus-31 rating.
