Former Liiga Forward Placed On Waivers By Blue Jackets

A former Liiga forward has hit the NHL waiver wire.

This is because the Columbus Blue Jackets have placed forward Mikael Pyyhtia on waivers.

Pyyhtia being placed on waivers comes after he scored one goal in five games with the Blue Jackets during this past season. He also posted 21 goals, 28 assists, and 49 points in 59 AHL games for the Cleveland Monsters during the 2025-26 season.

In 71 career NHL games over four seasons, Pyyhtia has posted five goals, six assists, and 11 points.

Pyyhtia spent four seasons with TPS of Liiga from 2019-20 to 2022-23. His best season with the club was in 2021-22 when he posted 21 goals and 35 points in 56 games. He also spent several seasons with TPS' U18 and U20 clubs.
