EA SPORTS introduced a gameplay tuner update today for the start of Season 5 in World of Chel. The update isn’t a large one and the changes pertain to the speed of the in-game time clock, and an increase in effectiveness for five x-factor abilities.
Here’s what has changed:
Based on community feedback, the developers have updated the final 60 seconds of the third period and overtime to be 60 real-time seconds. This change is to hopefully create more dramatic finishes and give players that realistic, nervous feeling of defending a one-goal lead, or get the adrenaline rushing to the hands to complete the comeback.
NOTE: Nowhere does it say that the final 60 seconds of the first and second periods will be 60 real-time seconds, so expect no change in that regard.
There are five x-factors in this update that developers hope will be utilized more. The x-factors that received buffs are Shnipe, Off the Rush, Crease Crasher, Total Eclipse, and No Contest.
Here is a detailed description of the improvements made to each ability:
I for one am excited to try out Off the Rush with the new update because I believe it can be one of the most fun abilities to play around with in the game. What’s not to love about the idea of charging down the ice and scoring a Steve Yzerman-style, old-fashioned slap shot?
The update went live along with Season 5 of World of Chel at 1pm EST today.
