Florida is in the Stanley Cup Final for the third time, but this is the first time they've led the series
There is nothing special about this post.
The Florida Panthers did something on Saturday night that deserves some acknowledgement, at least in the opinion of this 30-year follower of the Florida Panthers.
Not so much for what it literally means for the team, but more so what it symbolizes as the Panthers attempt to climb higher than they ever have before.
After last night’s 3-0 win, Florida took a 1-0 lead over the Edmonton Oilers in the Stanley Cup Final.
It’s the first time in franchise history the Panthers have held a series lead in a Stanley Cup Final.
That’s it.
It’s nothing major that should be overly celebrated or anything like that, but considering how far the franchise has come, and how hard this team has worked to get to this point, it’s something that was worth acknowledging.
Now, as anyone on the team would tell you, the work is far from over.
Game 2 is coming up on Monday night.
The Panthers have never won more than one game in a Stanley Cup Final.
Perhaps now they’ll change that, too.
