On Thursday September 11th, the Los Angeles Kings and FanDuel Sports Network announced their broadcast team for the 2025-26 NHL season. There are some notable figures amongst the 11 person team that will be together for what is hopefully a wonderful year for hockey in L.A.
FanDuel Sports Network will be on the air for 68 of the Kings 82 regular season games this season, as well as two games in the pre-season.
Let's take a closer look at what seems to be a terrific broadcast team.
John Kelly will replace Nick Nickson as L.A.'s play-by-play guy. Kelly recently served as the long time play-by-play analyst for the St. Louis Blues. The Blues decided to not renew his contract after almost 20 years, so the 65-year-old has agreed to be the guy in Los Angeles. Kelly has been in the booth since 1988 when he joined his father, Dan Kelly for a Blues game. Along with the Blues, Kelly has worked the mic for the Tampa Bay Lightning and Colorado Avalanche.
Longtime Kings analyst Jim Fox is returning to the booth for the 2025-26 season. Although he is back, there is still some change for Fox as he won't be working alongside the legendary Nick Nickson for the first time in his Kings career. He is expected to still do the bulk of the games next season, but there may be a revolving door of analysts to fill in for him for select games.
Former King Tony Granato will join the team in an analyst role for elect games throughout the year. Granato suited up for the Kings from 1989-1996. He will bring a boatload of knowledge and insight to the broadcast from his 13-year playing career and his coaching days. After his playing days were over, the now 61-year-old coached the Avalanche, Team USA, and The University of Wisconsin.
Another former King is joining the team. Ray Ferraro played in Los Angeles from 1995-199. Like Granato, the 61-year-old will be an analyst throughout the year. Ferraro brings a ton of experience and knowledge about the game from his playing days, as well as his career on the mic. He had a terrific playing career, playing in 1258 games while accumulating 898 points. After his career as a player, Ferraro has become one of hockey's premier colour analysts.
The two-time Stanley Cup Champion is back with the Kings, just not on the ice. Stoll will fill in as an analyst over the course of the season. He will also be breaking down the action on the 'LA Kings Live' pregame, intermission, and postgame coverage shows. Stoll is a familiar face for younger Kings fans as he suited up for the team during their glory days from 2008-2015, which of course included two Stanley Cup parades.
Blake Bolden is one of two women on the stellar broadcast team in Los Angeles. Bolden is a former professional hockey player, as well as a former scout for the Kings. The 34-year-old spent four years playing in Boston College before making the leap to the professional level from 2013-2019. She will join as an analyst on 'LA Kings Live' for broadcasts during the season.
Schaefer will be returning to the FDSN team for the 2025-26 season. He will be filling in for Kelly as the play-by-play guy for select broadcasts throughout the year. Schafer did some games for L.A. last season, filling in for Nickson.
Patrick O'Neal is returning as the host of 'LA Kings Live.' Carrlyn Bathe is also returning, she will be working as a host, as well as the rink side reporter for FDSN. Two familiar faces remain on TV screens in Los Angeles.
Former Kings winger Daryl Evans will return as an analyst on 'LA Kings Live.' Like Stoll, Evans will be a regular on the pre, post, and intermission shows all season long. Evans brings insight and knowledge while being a familiar face. The now 64-year-old had multiple stints with the Kings as a player from 1981-1985.
Mike Kelly is the director of analytics and insights for a company called Sportlogiq. Sportlogiq is a hockey analytics company that provides insight and analysis to leagues and teams across the hockey world. On the broadcast, Kelly will provide different looks at the game through data and analytics, giving Kings fans a new understanding for what is really happening on the ice.
