Thompson has three years of eligibility remaining

University of Alaska-Anchorage forward Riley Thompson has transferred to The Ohio State University.

Thompson just finished his freshman season with the Seawolves, where he had nine goals and 15 assists for 24 points in 34 games.

A product of Orleans, Ont., Thompson played his junior hockey with the Pembroke Lumber Kings and Smith Falls Bears of the CCHL where he had 52 goals and 104 points in 102 games across two seasons.

Whereas most players at the NCAA level played AAA the majority of their careers, Thompson played AA up until his second year of U18 when he made the jump to AAA.

As Thompson makes the jump to the Buckeyes next year, he has the chance to be a difference maker for the team. Coming off a freshman season that saw him produce 0.71 P/G (points/game), Thompson could be a great get for Ohio State.
