Armstrong split his five-year NCAA career between Boston College and Boston University

The Charlotte Checkers have signed Boston College forward Jamie Armstrong to a one-year, two-way AHL contract, the team announced Monday.

Armstrong, who just wrapped up his fifth season in the NCAA, had five goals and seven assists for 12 points in 32 games with the Eagles.

Armstrong also spent four years at Boston University, where he had eight goals and 26 points in 94 games.

Prior to joining the NCAA, Armstrong played his junior hockey across three leagues including the BCHL, NCDC and USHL.

The product of Warwick, RI., Armstrong has the opportunity to earn a spot with the Checkers out of camp. While he could be a candidate to spend some time in the ECHL, he has the size and smarts to make an impact at the pro level.
