The Carolina Hurricanes have signed forward Josiah Slavin to a two-year, two-way contract, the team announced Sunday.
Slavin, hailing from Erie, Colo., spent this past season playing for the Toronto Marlies where he had 10 goals and 14 assists for 24 points in 70 regular season games. Slavin also saw three playoff games with the Marlies but was held pointless.
Drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the seventh round of the 2018 NHL Draft, Slavin has played in 15 career NHL games -collecting an assist.
Prior to turning pro at the end of the 2020-21 season, Slavin spent two seasons playing for Colorado College, collecting 26 points in 56 career games.
With Slavin joining his fourth NHL organization, he will try to make the jump back to the NHL with the Hurricanes. While he had a bit of a down year in 2022-23, Slavin rebounded nicely with the Marlies and should be a difference maker for the Checkers.
