The Cornell Big Red are set to hire Corey Leivermann as an assistant coach, Brad Elliott Schlossmann reported Monday.

A product of Mankato, Minn., Leivermann is set to join the Big Red after spending the 2023-24 season as associate head coach of the Fargo Force (USHL).

Before getting into coaching in 2016, Leivermann enjoyed a career that saw him play NCAA hockey at Minnesota State (Mankato) and one year in the SPHL with the Mississippi RiverKings.

Following his retirement, Leivermann's first coaching gig came with the Jersey Shore Wildcats (NA3HL) during the 2016-17 season when he served as head coach and general manager of the team. Following the end of the NA3HL season, Leivermann joined the Wichita Falls Wildcats (NAHL) as an assistant coach.

Leivermann joined the Janesville Jets in 2017 and worked for the team as an assistant coach (2017-2019), director of scouting (2018-2020) and head coach (2019-2020).

Following three seasons with the Jets, Leivermann joined the USHL's Madison Capitols as an associate head coach. Over three years with the team, Leivermann served as both associate head coach (2020-2022) as well as general manager and head coach (worked in both roles during the 2022-23 season).

As Leivermann gets set to join the NCAA, he does so with a solid coaching background. Having just helped guide the Force to a Clark Cup, Leivermann knows what it takes to go on deep runs and should help Cornell now and in the future.
