Denver's Lucas Olvestad has transferred to the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, it was announced Thursday.

Coming off a national championship win with the Pioneers, Olvestad joins the Minutemen with two years of eligibility remaining. In 32 games this past season, he had six assists to go along with 14 penalty minutes. Throughout his NCAA career, he has one goal and nine assists for 10 points in 54 games.

Before joining the Pioneers, Olvestad played his junior hockey in Djurgardens' junior system and one year in the USHL with the Dubuque Fighting Saints.

While the points don't jump off the board with Olvestad, the Minutemen are getting a solid addition to their program. After losing multiple defenders including Scott Morrow, getting Olvestad and his championship pedigree is a solid addition for Greg Carvel and his staff.
