Former Wisconsin Badger forward Cruz Lucius has transferred to Arizona State for the 2024-25 season.
A native of Lawrence, KS., Lucius had two productive seasons with the Badgers, collecting 24 goals and adding 44 assists for 68 points in 70 games.
Acquired by the Penguins in the Jake Guentzel trade, Lucius was originally selected by the Carolina Hurricanes in the fourth round (124th overall) of the 2022 NHL Draft.
Lucius is a big get for the Sun Devils. Although they had a strong season this past year, finishing with a 24-8-6 record, the Sun Devils will be that much more dangerous next season.
Lucius is a highly skilled creator with the puck on his stick. He has the ability to find teammates through layers and draws defenders into his own space before dishing it off to a teammate. If his production is any indication, the Sun Devils should be getting a point-per-game player to add to their lineup next season.
