Former Western Michigan Bronco forward Wade Allison has signed a one-year deal with Barys Astana in the KHL, it was announced Friday.

A 2016 second-round pick of the Philadelphia Flyers, Allison split this past season between the AHL's Lehigh Valley Phantoms and Milwaukee Admirals. In 46 games with the Phantoms, Allison had 17 points. With Milwaukee, he registered five points in 14 regular season games.

A product of Carman, Man., Allison spent four seasons at Western Michigan between 2016-2020, collecting 45 goals and 52 assists for 97 points in 106 career games.

With Allison making his way to Russia, he will most likely have the opportunity to play big minutes with Barys Astana. Although he could stay over in Russia for the foreseeable future, Allison produced well in a bottom six role when he was with the Flyers and another NHL team might be willing to take a flier on him come 2025-26.
