The ECHL's Toledo Walleye have signed forward Josh Nodler to a one-year deal, the team announced this past week.
A product of Oak Park, Mich., Nodler spent last season playing for Bowling Green where he collected five goals and 10 assists for 15 points in 36 games. Spending five seasons in the NCAA, Nodler played for Michigan State, UMass and the Falcons. Over 162 career NCAA games, he put up 54 points.
Drafted by the Calgary Flames in the fifth round of the 2019 NHL Draft, Nodler played his junior hockey with the USHL's Fargo Force and the U.S. NTDP.
As Nodler makes the jump to the pro game, he could be an under the table add for the Walleye. He's skilled with the puck and can draw players in to create space for others. The Walleye have a good reputation for developing talent and Nodler could be a good candidate to join that list.
