Gersich spent last season playing in Sweden

Former North Dakota forward Shane Gersich has signed a one-year deal with the Iserlohn Roosters of the DEL, it was announced this past week.

A product of Chaska, Minn., Gersich spent this past season playing for Vasteras IK (HockeyAllsvenskan) where he scored 19 goals and added 13 assists for 32 points in 48 regular season games.

Drafted by the Washington Capitals in the fifth round of the 2014 NHL Draft, Gersich spent three seasons playing for North Dakota between 2015-2018. In 117 games, he collected 43 goals and 34 assists for 77 points.

Although Gersich only saw five games with the Capitals, he spent five seasons playing for the Hershey Bears (AHL), putting up 113 points in 277 regular season games.

As Gersich head into his first season in Germany and second overseas, it would not be a surprise to see him become one of the Roosters top point getters. He had no problem adjusting to the bigger ice surface last season and should continue his production in 2024-25.
