Bergeron was fired from the RedHawks in March

Former Miami University head coach Chris Bergeron has been hired by the Buffalo Sabres as a college scout, the team announced Tuesday.

A native of Wallaceburg, Ont. Bergeron joins the Sabres after being relieved of his duties in March.

After hanging up his skates in 2000 following a seven-year pro career, Bergeron got his coaching start with the RedHawks as an assistant coach prior to the 2000-01 season.

Bergeron would hold this role with the team for 10 seasons before joining Bowling Green as their head coach for the 2010-11 season.

A common theme throughout his coaching career, Bergeron would spend a lengthy nine seasons with the Falcons before returning to his alma mater as their head coach.

Bergeron would hold this position with the RedHawks from 2019 to March 2024, collecting a 35-116-16 record before being let go by the team.

In his first scouting role, Bergeron is a good hire by the Sabres. As someone with over 20 years of NCAA experience as a player and coach, Bergeron is going to be a trusted voice when it comes the college hockey.
