
Former Michigan Wolverines forward Kevin Porter has been hired as an assistant coach with the U.S. NTDP, it was announced Friday.
Porter, who retired from playing in 2020, has spent parts of the past four seasons working for the AHL's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins as an assistant coach.
Drafted by the Phoenix Coyotes in the fourth round of the 2004 NHL Draft, Porter would go on to play 249 career NHL regular season games across parts of eight seasons. In that span, he scored 29 goals and added 29 assists for 58 points.
Between 2004-2008, Porter suited up for the Wolverines, collecting 183 points in 162 career games. His NCAA accomplishments included being crowned CCHA Champion twice (2005 & 2008), named to the CCHA First-All Star Team, CCHA Player of the Year, NCAA West First All-American Team as well as winning the Hobey Baker Award (all during the 2007-08 season).
Porter previously worked for the U.S. NTDP, getting his first coaching gig there back in 2020 when he served as a volunteer assistant coach.
