The Hartford Wolf Pack have named Grant Potulny as their next head coach, the team announced Thursday.
Potulny, who stepped down as head coach at Northern Michigan a couple weeks ago, is the eighth head coach in Wolf Pack history.
A native of Grand Forks, N,D., Potulny's hiring by the Wolf Pack is his first foray into coaching professional hockey. He got his coaching start in 2009 when he joined the University of Minnesota as an assistant coach.
Potulny worked with the Gophers from 2009-2017 until he left the team to join Northern Michigan as their head coach. From 2017 to June of this year, Potulny served as the head coach of the Wildcats.
As Potulny heads to Hartford, he will have the opportunity to try and lead the Wolf Pack back to the playoffs for a third straight season.
