Former Wisconsin Badgers defenseman Mike Vorlicky has signed a one-year deal with the ECHL's Idaho Steelehads, it was announced this past week.
A product of Edina, Minn., Vorlicky spent parts of four seasons playing for the Badgers, where he collected four goals and 17 assists for 21 points in 125 career games. Vorlicky had five points in 37 games this past season.
Prior to joining the NCAA, Vorlicky played for Edina High (USHS) and part of one season with the USHL's Madison Capitols.
With Vorlicky making the jump to the pros, he will be joining a Steelheads team that finished third in the Western Conference in 2023-24. While it remains to be seen what role he will play with the team. Vorlicky brings value on and off the ice and that should help him as he makes the switch.
