Dave Schwarz, dschwarz@stcloudtimes.com - James Venne Commits To Northern Michigan

Northern Michigan has received a commitment from goaltender James Venne, it was announced this past week.

A product of Saskatoon, Sask., Venne is currently playing for the BCHL's Sherwood Park Crusaders where he has collected a 7-3-0 record to go along with a 3.48 GAA and a .906 SV% in 10 appearances.

Prior to joining the Crusaders this year, Venne played three seasons with the SJHL's Melfort Mustangs, putting up a 65-26-9 record, a 2.68 GAA and a .907 SV% in 111 career regular season appearances.

As Venne get set to join the Wildcats next year, he will potentially have the opportunity to play a big role for the team. Standing at 6-foot-3, Venne moves well in his net and does a good job tracking pucks through traffic. He has shown an ability to adapt at every level he's played at and the NCAA should be no different.
