The Laval Rocket and head coach Jean-François Houle have mutually agreed to part ways, the team announced Friday.
A product of Quebec, Que., Houle has taken the head coaching job at Clarkson. Prior to joining the Golden Knights, Houle spent the past three seasons as head coach of the Rocket.
Originally drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in the fourth round of the 1993 NHL Draft, Houle enjoyed a five-year professional career before retiring in 2002.
Prior to the 2003-04 NCAA season, Houle got his first coaching opportunity when he joined his alma mater (Clarkson) as an assistant coach.
From 2003-2010, Houle would hold that role with the Golden Knights before joining the Lewiston MAINEiacs (QMJHL) as their head coach.
After one season with Lewiston, Houle would join the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada (QMJHL) as their head coach before the 2011-12 season.
Over the next decade, Houle would coach with the Armada (2011-14) and Bakersfield Condors (2014-2021) before joining the Rocket.
As Houle heads back to his alma mater as the head coach, he will be taking over for Casey Jones who heads to Cornell as their associate head coach.
