Loheit served as captain of the Bulldogs last season

Former University of Minnesota-Duluth forward Luke Loheit has signed a one-year deal with the ECHL's Kansas City Mavericks, the team announced Thursday.

Drafted by the Ottawa Senators in the seventh round of the 2018 NHL Draft, Loheit spent the past five seasons playing for the Bulldogs. In 2023-24, he scored 10 goals and added 10 assists for 20 points in 36 games.

Throughout his time in the NCAA, Loheit collected 28 goals and 28 assists for 56 points in 166 games. Prior to joining the NCAA, Loheit played his junior hockey with the Penticton Vees (BCHL).

As Loheit makes the jump to the pros, he should be an immediate difference maker for the Mavericks. Someone who leads by example on and off the ice, Loheit has a game well suited for the pros and it shouldn't take long for him to show that.
