Both goaltenders will attend the camp on tryout agreements

Former NCAA goaltenders Matthew Thiessen and Logan Neaton will attend Manitoba Moose (AHL) training camp on professional try outs, the team announced Sunday.

Both Thiessen (Minnesota-Duluth) and Neaton (Miami) finished their last season of NCAA eligibility in 2023-24.

A product of Steinbach, Man., Thiessen finished his second season with the Bulldogs in 2023-24, posting a 3-11-2 record to go along with a 3.14 GAA and a .904 SV%. Prior to joining Minnesota-Duluth, he played three seasons with Maine.

    In 58 career appearances, Thiessen collected a record of 12-33-6, a 3.15 GAA and a .896 SV%.

Hailing from Brighton, Mich., Neaton heads to Moose training camp after spending last season with Miami (Ohio). In 23 appearances, he posted a record of 4-4-1 along with a 3.24 GAA and a .894 SV%.

Over the course of his five years in the NCAA, Neaton played three seasons with the RedHawks and two for UMass-Lowell.

As both goaltenders head into camp looking to gain a pro contract, it will be an interesting storyline to follow. Although it may be difficult to earn AHL time, it would not be surprising to see either Thiessen or Neaton earn an ECHL deal.
