The Miami University Redhawks have hired Troy Thibodeau as their associate head coach, the team announced Wednesday.
Thibodeau, a native of Danvers, MA., joins the Redhawks after spending the past three seasons as an assistant coach with Dartmouth.
"I am beyond excited to join the Miami University hockey program," Thibodeau said in the team's official announcement. "I am humbled by the opportunity and can't wait to get started."
A former NCAA D-III player, Thibodeau played three years with the University of Southern Maine where he had 27 points in 76 games.
Once his playing career was over, Thibodeau got his coaching start as an assistant coach with Wentworth Institute of Technology (NCAA D-III) in 2014-15.
After a season with the Leopards, Thibodeau had stops with Merrimack (as their video coach for one season) and UMass-Lowell (served as director of hockey ops. for two seasons) before joining the Tri-City Storm of the USHL as an assistant coach where he worked with now Miami head coach Anthony Noreen.
Thibodeau spent three seasons with the Storm before moving on to join Dartmouth.
After a difficult 2023-24 season that saw Miami finish last in the NCHC with a 7-26-3 record, the additions of Noreen and Thibodeau provides promise to the Redhawks.
With a new page turned, the Redhawks open their 2024-25 season at Ferris State on Oct. 5.
