Celebrini was the first overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft

The San Jose Sharks have signed forward Macklin Celebrini to a three-year entry-level contract, the team announced Saturday.

Although Celebrini mentioned to reporters that he hadn't made a decision at last week's development camp, he elected to sign his deal and turn pro for next season.

The first overall pick by the Sharks in the 2024 NHL Draft, Celebrini spent this past season playing for Boston University. In 38 games, he scored 32 goals and added 32 assists for 64 points while also taking home the Hobey Baker.

“His combination of skills and hockey sense is rare, and we are extremely confident that he is ready to make the transition to being a full time NHL player," Sharks GM Mike Grier said in the team's official release

Wherever Celebrini has played, whether with Shattuck St. Mary's (USHS), the Chicago Steel (USHL) or with the Terriers, he has been one to watch. As he makes the jump to the NHL, Sharks fans should be excited to watch him and Will Smith on a nightly basis.
