St Cloud State defenseman Kaleb Tiessen has entered the transfer portal, it was announced last week.
The native of Leamington, Ont., wrapped up his freshman season with the Huskies where he appeared in six games and was held pointless.
Before heading to St. Cloud, Tiessen's junior hockey journey took him to many places. Tiessen started out playing for the Chatham Maroons of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League, where he had 15 points in 49 games.
Tiessen also spent time playing for the Burlington Cougars of the OJHL (notching 30 points in 50 games), Utica Jr. Comets of the NCDC (one point in seven games) and the Maryland Black Bears of the NAHL (25 points in 51 games).
Standing at 6-foot-5, Tiessen is an imposing defender when he is on the ice. He moves the puck efficiently and has proven he has offensive potential.
For a team looking for defenders, Tiessen should an intriguing potential addition. For a team not afraid to get him more ice time and time to adapt to the NCAA level, there could be a big pay-off down the line.
