The Anaheim Ducks announced Thursday they have signed right winger Sam Colangelo to a two-year entry-level contract.
The 2020 second-round pick (36th overall) split his four-year NCAA career between Western Michigan and Northeastern. Over the course of 110 NCAA games, the native of Stoneham, Mass., scored 45 goals and added 52 assists for 97 games.
This past season, Colangelo finished tied for fifth in goals across the NCAA and lead the Broncos in goals with 24.
Colangelo signed a professional try-out agreement with the San Diego Gulls on April 1 and had four points in four games, including his first goal against the Barracuda on April 3.
Colangelo is a skilled, agile forward who makes smart decisions with the puck. He consistently scans in the offensive zone and can find players in open space around the net.
Colangelo joined the Ducks at morning skate and is expected to make his NHL debut soon.
