After injuries prevented Bedard and Eichel from participating, the Chicago Blackhawks and Vegas Golden Knights are expected to be without a representative at the NHL All-Star Game.
Winnipeg Jets forward Kyle Connor and New York Rangers forward Vincent Trocheck joined the 2024 NHL All-Star Game roster on Monday.
The two players replace Chicago Blackhawks rookie Connor Bedard, who is out recovering from a fractured jaw, and Vegas Golden Knights center Jack Eichel, who had surgery to repair a lower-body injury.
This means the Blackhawks and Golden Knights are expected not to have any players representing the club on the ice at the all-star festivities. Connor joins goaltender Connor Hellebuyck as the Jets' representatives, while Trocheck and goalie Igor Shesterkin were chosen from the Rangers.
Connor, 27, has 18 goals and 11 assists for 29 points in 28 games, while 30-year-old Vincent Trocheck has 15 goals and 29 assists for 44 points in 46 contests.
Bedard, 18, leads the Blackhawks in points with 33 in 39 games – their next highest scorer is Jason Dickinson, who only has 24 points in 46 outings. But while 27-year-old Eichel has the highest points-per-game average on the Golden Knights at 1.05, captain Mark Stone leads the club in scoring, with 47 points in 46 games compared to Eichel's 44 in 42. Stone's had a recent history of back injuries, but he's appeared in every match so far this season for Vegas.
