4 Nations Face-Off: The NHL Finally Gave The Players What They Wanted, And The Players Delivered

Almost 15 years to the day from when Sidney Crosby scored the Golden Goal for Canada in the 2010 Winter Olympics, Connor McDavid grabbed the torch and scored the decisive overtime goal to win the 4 Nations Face-Off.

Both games were 3-2 wins in overtime, with Crosby scoring at 7:40 and McDavid taking only 38 seconds longer.

It was high drama and capped an incredible nine days of best-on-best hockey. It was more than anyone ever expected, and the players from all four countries need to be given enormous amounts of credit for making this into a must-watch event. They've been asking for this for a decade and when they got it, they delivered in an enormous way.

If the players want something like this every two years, give it to them, because they clearly know what they're talking about when it comes to this stuff.

The players are the product. And when they ask for the opportunity to shine, the NHL must find ways to give it to them. Here's a new video column reacting to the tournament that was:

"From a competitive standpoint, the 4 Nations Face-Off was an absolute success," says Ken Campbell.

Have to wonder if Mathew Tkachuk being injured, was trying to play for himself not the team. Could have been difference maker having a healthy person in that position.

Not sure if it’s just my phone…all that will play is the ad. Once it plays, it plays again instead of going to the video.
