As if Vancouver Canucks winger Brock Boeser hasn't had to deal with enough adversity both on and off the ice during his career, now we learn from multiple reports that he'll miss Game 7 Monday night against the Edmonton Oilers and potentially the rest of the playoffs with a blot-clotting issue.
All this amid his outstanding playoff, one that had him positioned to be a Conn Smythe candidate if the Canucks went the distance, as he's tied for the team lead with 12 points in 12 games. But now is the time to think about Brock Boeser, the person, not the hockey player.
Speaking from experience, blood clots suck.
Canucks coach Rick Tocchet didn't get into specifics about Boeser being out of the lineup, and the team hasn't announced anything about it, either. But if they're a deep-vein thrombosis like Frederik Andersen had earlier in the season, and they move into your lungs, they sap every bit of energy out of you. If that's the case, Brock Boeser probably wouldn't even be able to summon the energy to tie his skates, let alone play in Game 7.
