New Jersey Devils backup goalie Kevin Weekes out 2-3 weeks

BUFFALO, N.Y. - New Jersey Devils backup goalie Kevin Weekes will miss between two and three weeks with what the team called a lower-body injury.

Speaking prior to the Devils' game at Buffalo on Saturday, team president Lou Lamoriello said Weekes' injury is not expected to be serious, though the team is still awaiting test results. Weekes was hurt early in the second period of New Jersey's 5-4 overtime win against Tampa Bay on Friday, when Evgeny Artyukin's shot struck the goalie's left leg, just above the pad.

Based on the timetable, Weekes will likely miss the start of the playoffs, which open April 15. The Atlantic Division-leading Devils recalled Scott Clemmensen from AHL Lowell to take over as backup behind Martin Brodeur.
